A, Confluent HUVEC were incubated with 20 ng/mL of PlGF-1, VEGF-A or VEGF-E for 24 hours and the supernatants assayed for sFlt-1 by ELISA. B, To confirm the involvement of VEGFR-2 in sFlt-1 release, HUVEC were pre-incubated with 10 μmol/L SU-1498 for 30 minutes, stimulated with 20 ng/mL VEGF-E for 24 hours and sFlt-1 measured in the supernatants by ELISA. ***P<0.01 versus control.
